Weekend topped off with some quality waders

Late morning Sunday, Rose and Mike Collard discovered this odd-looking LITTLE STINT at College Lake BBOWT. It was feeding on the main marsh in the emergent vegetation close to the Octagon Hide. It was a moulting adult in transitional plumage and remained throughout the rest of the day, despite being hounded by both Lapwing and Moorhens. This is a very rare bird indeed at College and an excellent addition to the year list. Dave Bilcock, Dave Hutchinson and John Foster all managed to get photographs of the bird, as proved above.

Whilst twitching the Little Stint, Dave Bilcock also watched a SPOTTED REDSHANK fly over - another first for the county this year.
