QUAIL at Pitstone Hill
Rob Andrews discovered a calling male COMMON QUAIL in the barley field adjacent to Pitstone Hill last night and after Graham Smith heard it this afternoon, Chaz Jackson, an Amersham birder and I enjoyed superb views of it as it flew from just 10 feet in front of us this evening; it was calling from 1900-1920 hours. Also 3 jangling male CORN BUNTINGS from the wires, 4 Yellowhammers, a family party of 5 Common Whitethroats and 22 Skylarks in area.
