RED-CRESTED POCHARDS
Three Red-crested Pochards, Wilstone Reservoir, Tring, 9 August 2008 (Dave Bilcock)
Although an eclipse drake Red-crested Pochard has been resident on Wilstone Reservoir for several weeks now, today (9 August) saw two new birds arrive overnight. On bill pattern and eye colour, the two new birds appear to be an adult female and juvenile. Steve Rodwell had observed an adult female with a single small young earlier in the year (in June) but the two birds disappeared shortly later.
