Latter part of the week

Very little change in last couple of days other than a noticeable increase in wildfowl numbers......

Three GREENSHANK still present, plus 602 Lapwing but otherwise big wader clearout - just 4 BLACK-TAILED GODWIT left, 2 juvenile LITTLE RINGED PLOVER and a Common Sandpiper. Both Whooper Swans still, 97 Greylag, 160 Mallard, 19 Wigeon, just under 400 Teal, 60 Shoveler, 47 Pochard and the 4 juvenile COMMON SHELDUCKS, up to 5 HOBBY, 22 Great Crested Grebe, 52 Mute Swan and 6 Little Egret.

The juvenile BLACK TERN has been present on Startop's End all week, with 2 juvenile YELLOW WAGTAILS there today

I covered the Hill escarpment extensively today with little to show for it: 3 flyover TREE PIPIT, a few lingering COMMON REDSTART, the 4 WHINCHATS in the sheep pen field and the highlight - a pair of GREY PARTRIDGES.

Just outside the Recording Area, the horse paddocks at Crossways Yard at Nettleden yielded 4 YELLOW WAGTAILS and a single WHEATEAR
