Post-breeding Lapwing numbers build up

TUESDAY 14 JULY

A day of heavy showers, with temperatures hovering between 16 and 19 degrees C.

WILSTONE RESERVOIR (0900-1015)

Few highlights today with little evidence of passage

Grey Heron (9 fishing)
LITTLE EGRET (juvenile still present and showing well from Drayton Hide)
Greylag Geese (108)
Lapwing (post-breeding flock now built up to 217 birds)
COMMON SANDPIPER (1 on bunds)
Black-headed Gulls (38 on spit)
Common Terns (40+ including 11 fledged juveniles fending for themselves)
Common Swift (16)
SAND MARTIN (5)
*HOUSE MARTINS (35 including juveniles)
Grey Wagtail (1 juvenile)
House Sparrow (male by car park)
