MARCH 1st - SMEW

Happened to bump into Steve Rodwell by the car park steps where we enjoyed the female Goosander and a Redshank that was on the Drayton Bank. After Steve left I continued towards the hide and spotted a female SMEW that was moving away from the bank. I also watched the Water Pipit fly across the reservoir from by the overflow, which is now fulfilling its purpose as a decent flow of water is now streaming down it. Little else to report other than two Little Egrets and a definite spring feeling as the number of singing birds has increased (Roy Hargreaves)
