The Whooper Swans

Adult pair of Whooper Swans, Wilstone Reservoir, Tring, 23 August to 10 September 2008 (Charlie Jackson)
This feral pair of Whooper Swans are believed to have derived from Wardown Park, Luton, Bedfordshire, where a pinioned female has reared at least eight young since 1990.
They attempted to breed at Dunstable Sewage Farm this summer, but all seven eggs in the nest were destroyed by a territorial Canada Goose. They were last reported here on 17 August and arrived at Wilstone Reservoir on 23 August.
In addition, there was a single adult at College Lake until at least 20 August.
