LITTLE EGRETS breaking new records almost daily

TUESDAY 2 AUGUST

Another very hot day (80 degrees f) followed late evening by torrential rain and lightning. I visited Wilstone at dusk to get an accurate count of LITTLE EGRETS and was amazed to count no less than 27 birds - another new site record.

The rain unfortunately did not ground any new waders but there were 9 GREEN SANDPIPERS present this evening, 5 COMMON GREENSHANKS and 6 Common Sandpipers.

Two adult WHOOPER SWANS were present for their second day (Wardown Park birds), along with 12 Teal, 28 Mute Swans, the Sparrowhawk family, drake Wigeon and 19 Mistle Thrushes
